Looking out on a Ruined Cityscape

The idea of a Digital Matte work has always been an interest of mine, ever since I saw some of the old matte work done on classic films. As the technology advanced and they moved into the digital medium, moving from simple static backgrounds to more interactive semi, and in some cases full, 3d mattes.

I am working on a new composite that will allow me to show off the visual medium that I am exploring. I am taking large amounts of photo reference and making a completely different setting based off them, the basis of alot of Digital Mattes.

Based around the concept of looking out of a large hole in the wall of an apartment out onto a city that is smoldering in ruin, I am taking standard photos and moving from there.

Given the large amount of roto work involved however I was hit with a loss of data moving back and forth from Shake 4 to the latest version that was released. I am adjusting to make up for the loss, but this project has been put on the back burner for now.
